Painting based Weaved Rug - In Progress
The 'Zigzag‘ project, a started duo-project in 2020 during Armenian-Aserbaidjan war, carries the intention to maintain the creative factor during the times of wars and social suppressions. Through the realized work Hrachya Vardanyan and Juliane Schreiber (textile artist from Germany) recall the power of artistic media within human life towards processes with evil signature. Within their collaboration are searching for one of fundamental missions of art and culture, which is to deal with existing, with collective and individual reality, in order to transform and transmute it. 'ZIGZAG’ will be a rug weaved by modern technologies, based on Vardanyans‘ painting 'The return of the Cosmic Serpent‘. The final masterpiece carries the symbol of DNA like Cosmic Serpent, transformed by two artistic interventions into a language beyond cultures.
We believe that art is a good shield against chaos. Art is about bringing us inward, where we, humans, can find our peace and sense of universal order. Coming from this original and inner source, we all are able to generate an output which can reveal a “true reality“. Art allows us to cross the borders of everyday life-reality to give room to contemplation, imagination and unconditional vision.
The final work includes 1 master rug and an edition of smaller rugs with ranging colors.
